Un aviso sobre la evalucion del curso
Good Afternoon
Students-
Thank you very much
for your hard work and diligence this term! To the extent that we have been
fervently addressing the AP exam May 8th, our schedule has been
extremely rigorous and challenging for students who have been absent and
ultimately unable to complete missed assignments. I would like to address the matter by again taking the time to
remind each of you of our understandings and my expectations.
As you have already
been made aware, this term was planned and designed to simulate aspects of the
AP Language exam, and within this construction we have been adhering to a
strict schedule. Although the result of this rigorous schedule has allowed
fewer opportunities for individual student-teacher discourse, I have always
made available the use of electronic mail, our blog and individual conferences
during my lunch/planning periods. Accordingly
if there remain any questions about your present academic standing,
specifically class work and assignments, please read the following information
below carefully.
By definition the term grade is the work a
student has completed, and I can
only assign credit in cases where work has been presented for evaluation.
Everything that I have prepared for you is very important work, which is
largely teacher facilitated and presented in a highly structured organic environment.
Given these conditions, it is
extremely complex to attempt to recreate such modules for absent students,
without the time to properly schedule such an event. Therefore, if there is a
case where a student has not been able to be present when work is given, it
must be recorded as a zero in the grade book. This means that I was incorrect
in my original assumption that I could offer an “I” for incomplete work,
because this designation is reserved for extreme cases of prolonged absences,
documented by a medical personnel.
Thusly the grade assigned for term 4 will reflect the average of
completed assignments. However, if you have an interest to pursue what you have
missed there will be a make up period scheduled after the date of the Spanish
Language Advanced Placement test. For
those students who choose to commit to successfully making up his or her missed
assignments, I will be more than happy to go back and modify the term grade.
Best,
Ms. Cobham
